The snow hung around for a few weeks. To the point that the turkeys weren’t just hanging out in the field behind the house. Mom even saw one in front of the garage as she pulled in from work one day.

“Your father’s out looking at the rabbit turds around the edge of the house,” Mom said into the phone. “Well, at least he won’t have to fertilize the yard as much in the spring.”

The animals are getting desperate. The turkeys have poked holes in the thick snow all across the corn fields searching for the last kernels. And this Christmas holiday puts anything in Bonn to shame. Cold, blue, brisk, family-ridden and good.

I’m late in posting this. It’s late-February. This photo is from December.

  1. You make nice snow angels, better than Tupelo and Buddy.

  2. Love this!
